James Pennay - Managing Director

James Pennay's professional career includes 20+ years in the global renewable energy industry. He has pioneered large-scale wind power projects and portfolios in England, China and Australia, as well as initiating some of Queensland’s largest and most innovative solar photovoltaic (Oakey Solar) and solar thermal (Solar Dawn) projects.

James established CleanSight in 2010. He previously held senior positions at Wind Prospect in China, Australia, Canada and the UK, with roles spanning commercial, financial, technical, planning and environment, and innovation fields. 

Throughout his career, James has been committed to successfully identifying and executing commercial opportunities in the clean technology sector. This is highlighted by his five years of work in clean energy in China, his role as a founding Board Member of the China Carbon Forum and as a former Board Member of the Australian Wind Energy Association (now Clean Energy Council). He holds Engineering (Honours) and Business degrees from Queensland University of Technology.

James is currently Project Director for the landmark wind farm proposal for Wide Bay, Queensland, Forest Wind.

Sandy Vigar - Head of Planning

Sandy is a planning and environmental specialist with over 35 years of private sector and government experience in Australia, with a focus on major developments in Queensland, including infrastructure and energy projects such as downstream LNG at Gladstone. She holds qualifications in planning, environmental management and business administration and has served as Queensland and National President of the Royal Australian Planning Institute (now the Planning Institute of Australia) and as an Adjunct Professor in the school of Geography, Planning and Environmental Management at The University of Queensland.

David Pryke - Head of Corporate Governance and Strategy

David has considerable expertise in management, engineering, construction, projects, and service garnered over a highly successful career in Australia’s energy industry. Graduating from the University of NSW in 1980, he spent over a decade on the construction of coal fired power stations in NSW with Alstom and its predecessor companies. His roles at Alstom later included Head of Construction and Service, and Head of Sales. In 1999 he joined Siemens as the Head of Power Generation and subsequently expanded his role to Head of Energy, before taking on the role CEO and Managing Director of Siemens Gamesa Renewable Energy when the merged company was created in April 2017, completing 20 years of employment at Siemens.

David has a Degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of NSW and Masters in Project Management from the University of Technology, Sydney.

Madeleine Page - Director of Development

Madeleine is a Senior Environmental Consultant and Project Manager with 18 years’ experience in environmental management. She has extensive knowledge in the design and construction of major highway and infrastructure projects with both project and operational management experience and has been responsible for the delivery of the environmental component of multi-disciplinary infrastructure projects, from options analysis through to detailed design and construction. Madeleine has a wide range of skills in managing the delivery of environmental planning assessments, environmental approvals, reporting and contract documentation, engaging with stakeholders, including state and federal regulators, and is an experienced auditor of construction-related projects.

Jane Daniels - Head of First Nations Engagement

Jane has over 18 years’ experience managing complex programs and stakeholder relations across the Asia‐Pacific region while working for the United Nations, the Australian Government, contractors and NGOs. Jane has experience in impact assessments and implementation of sustainable community programs in the resources sector across the Asia Pacific. Jane leads CleanSight's stakeholder and community engagement program that encompasses community organisations, business associations, local residents, regional  councils and First Nations people.

Martin Pennay - Head of Finance

Martin has over 20 years’ experience in the global energy and metal industries. He was a Managing Director at industry leader, Goldman Sachs, for the last 11 of these years, prior to pursuing private equity investments. He is highly regarded within the industry for structuring complex commodity production projects, building commodity markets and sales teams, and for understanding commodity price risk. He has also been active in developing hedge fund and institutional investor participation in commodity markets and assisting corporate clients with funding solutions.

Aaron Freeman – Site Manager

With more than 10 years’ experience in the events industry across Australian and Asia, Aaron specialises in site and project management. With diverse skills in managing multi-sports, community and cultural events, Aaron’s strengths lie in engaging and collaborating with a broad range of state and local governments, corporates, and community organisations to ensure project outcomes benefit all stakeholders. He brings a strong logistics and OHS background to the CleanSight team, with practical on-site experience, an understanding of policy and procedure as well as creative solutions necessary for large and complex project delivery.

Andrea McIntosh – Senior Project Administrator

Combining a planning qualification with astute business administration, Andrea brings twenty years’ success enabling the fiscal growth of companies in the engineering and construction sectors. Andrea’s construction background includes hydro power in New Zealand, and a fully automated international shipping container terminal in Melbourne. Her planning experience includes a range of projects for both public and private clients, including strategic planning assessments for major transport projects in Victoria. She also has a proven track record of improving efficiencies in business reporting systems. Andrea drives CleanSight’s administration and project coordination.
